Returning to the Edinburgh Exhibition and Conference Centre on the 25th February 2022 we look forward to welcoming two superb Guest Speakers – Martin Gilbert and Dara O Briain.

A highlight of the Energy calendar, the Scottish Energy Forum Annual Dinner is an opportunity to celebrate and enjoy an evening of entertainment amongst friends and colleagues. Traditionally taking place on the eve of a Scotland Six Nations home fixture at Murrayfield.

Principal Guest Speaker - Martin Gilbert

Martin Gilbert has a long history in asset and wealth management.

He co-founded Aberdeen Asset Management PLC in 1983 and was chief executive officer from 1991 to 2017. During that period Aberdeen Asset Management PLC grew, through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisition, to become one of the world’s leading independent asset managers with £308 billion of AUM. In 2017 Aberdeen Asset Management PLC merged with Standard Life plc, to become Standard Life Aberdeen plc. On merging, Standard Life Aberdeen plc was the biggest UK-based asset management company and the second biggest in Europe. Martin was co-chief executive officer and subsequently vice chairman until he retired from Standard Life Aberdeen plc in September 2020. Martin is chairman of Revolut Ltd and Toscafund, deputy chairman of River and Mercantile Group PLC and senior independent director of Glencore plc, alongside a number of other directorships

Second Guest Speaker - Dara O Briain

Dara Ó Briain is one of the UK & Ireland’s favourite stand-up comedians and television presenters

He is best known for hosting Mock The Week, Robot Wars, Three Men in a Boat, Dara and Ed’s Great Big Adventure, Stargazing Live, Dara Ó Briain’s Science Club, and the documentary Dara Ó Briain Meets Stephen Hawking, all on BBC Television. He also currently hosts Comedy Central’s hit gameshow Blockbusters. His latest show, Voice of Reason, has been performed across the globe, touring in the UK & Ireland, Scandinavia, mainland Europe, Australia and the Middle East.
