“New Mindset for a Marginal Industry”
with Ray Riddoch - UK MD and SVP Europe & Africa of CNOOC International Ltd,

In the face of a volatile commodity price, which could be ‘lower for life’ and not ‘lower for longer’, Ray will discuss the need for a new mindset if the oil and gas industry is to progress and succeed. Ray will draw on his own leadership experience and share examples from CNOOC International on changing behaviours, embedding culture, sustaining cost improvements, collaborating on new contracting strategies and harnessing the digital revolution.

Speaker Profile

Ray Riddoch is the Managing Director UK and SVP Europe & Africa of CNOOC International Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of CNOOC Limited.

He has over 35 years of experience working with several of the major E&P companies in the global Oil and Gas industry, mostly in production operations.

Ray is currently the Co-Chair and a Director of Oil & Gas UK [OGUK], a Director of the Oil & Gas Technology Centre [OGTC] and the Scottish Council for Development & Industry [SCDI]. He is a member of the Oil & Gas Authority [OGA] MER Steering Committee.

He was appointed a Fellow of the Energy Institute in 2017

He also holds the position of the Prince of Wales’ Scottish Ambassador for Business in the Community.

He was awarded an OBE for services to the UK oil & gas industry in the New Year Honours List 2018

He is a past Director of the Scottish Chamber of Commerce, OPITO and the Offshore Training Foundation, and a past member of the Scottish Governments Energy Taskforce, Step Change in Safety Leadership Team and the OGA Asset Stewardship Taskforce. A graduate in mechanical engineering from Robert Gordon University, Ray also holds a MSc with Distinction in Offshore Engineering majoring in production, drilling and reservoir technology.
